Developer (Part-Time)

I developed three kinds of virtual instruments based on computer, i.e., storage oscillograph, wave grapher, and arbitrary waveform generator, during this period.

Lecturer

I taught the course "Signals and Systems". I published more than 35 papers on vector quantization during this period.

Associate Professor

I supervised five graduate students in the field of image processing. I published more than 30 papers during this period and one book in chinese named "Vector Quantization Fundamentals and Applications"(Chinese science press, 2002)

I supervised eight graduate students in the field of Watermarking. I have published more than 15 papers during this period. I organized and chaired the invited session "Image Compression and Digital Watermarking Techniques"for the 7th World Multi-conference on Systemics, Cybernetics and Informatics (SCI 2003). I became a member of the IEEE and SPIE.

2004 - 2005   University of Freiburg

Visiting Scientist, Research Fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation

I supervised four undergraduate students in Seminar CBIR for the University of Freiburg, the subjects are: 1. VQ in CBIR (Student Name: Sebastian Boehmer); 2. Watermarking in CBIR (Student Name: Henrik Skibbe); 3. Compressed-domain CBIR (Student Name: Christian Ott); 4. Semantic Based CBIR (Student Name: Frieder Hofmann). The students in Subjects 2 and 3 got the highest score in the Seminar. I cooperated with a ph.d. student and finish one IEEE Transaction Paper. Now one student is working for me in my research. During this research period, I finish 11 papers and one book chapter for AvH Work, and 20 more papers for other research work.

Director of Signal Processing Lab

I managed the graduate students in three research groups, i.e., Speech Processing, Image Processing, and Information Security. The research work in digital watermarking was supported by Chinese National Natural Foundation. I also cooperated with othe research groups in the project, for national defence science and technology committee, "Research on VXI bus based C-series modules"that has been awarded 2001 second prize of national defence science and technology. In addition, "Research on Nonlinear Image Filtering, Vector Quantization Image Compression and Image Fusion"has been awarded 2002 first prize of ministry of education in China.

I was the monitor in charge of study in the undergraduate class. I won the first prize of HIT for four times, and the second prize for three times during this period. I was awarded THREE-GOOD student of HIT in 1994.

I won the first prize of HIT for two times during this period. I took part in the Chinese Communist Party in 1996.

Doctor/Signal and Information Processing

I won the prize of Chinese Academy of Science in 1999. I became the lecturer of HIT in 1999. I became the associate professor of the HIT and the director of Signal Processing Lab of the HIT in 2000. During this period, I published more than 40 papers on vector quantization in journals and conferences. More than 20 papers are indexed by SCI and EI.
